Fifth entry - Final Major release

v5 -- I expect this will be the last major update as this is for the Synty Spooky Jam 2024

  • Added PlayerPrefs to save total goblins killed. Theme independent. Goblins killed will show in the menu
  • Removed songs from the Tune Jam, left in just the entry one, replaced with the hard rock ones. I think some of the Tune Jam ones were rather good, and would've worked well for the Pirate theme, but more time to decide would've been needed.
  • Font for the Title on menu has been updated
  • Created buttons and images for the 3 themes to show them off
  • Problem: (low Priority) I've not created a loading screen so when there is a bit of a delay, the button feels unresponsive. Solution: Create a simple popup to show it's loading ... if there is time
  • Fixed a bug with the audio notification, when track info isn't available
  • Fixed a bug where the EndOfDays greeter wouldn't work correctly due to me typing to quick and misspelling the animation name
  • Updated themes to use the music notification: Warrior and Pirates. Pirates doesn't have the safe zone, so will jump straight into rock music
  • On Pirate theme - moved Health Dispenser text higher so it is easier to see
  • For Pirate theme - created new skeleton pirates as the ones from the Warrior / dungeon theme were designed to be too strong.
Skeleton1 has health 5 (since players initial weapon has attack of 7) and attack 2, with a wooden sword.
    Skeleton2 has health 10 and attack 5.
Skeleton3 has health 15 and attack 7, taking one down will yield a chance of coins (small (70% for 5 coins), medium (50%) and large (10%)) and a health potion (small (30%), medium (10%) and large (5%))
  • For the Pirate theme - Changed the monster creation waves to use these skeletons, there are 5 waves. I also added a Pirate Warship into the background, because I like Galleons

Future thoughts

  • The pirate theme - would be great to have a night time theme, with nice lighting, or a scene just before sun fully sets
  • A SciFi City theme, which would be placed outdoors. Lighting and glow effects could be fun to see
    • Ranged enemies - shooting
    • Drones that would fly around and protect you
  • More Special weapons
  • A different shop - I really wanted to have a few shops: 1. health, 2. weapons, 3. god powers. I just never had time to redesign that part. At the moment it randomly shows products to buy, but could be better to show all and just disable what the player can't afford.
